Income and Expenditure

The charity is funded by a wide range of supporters, including individuals, charitable trusts, corporate partners and legacy gifts.

In our 2025 financial period:

  • We received £1,265,193 in income from donations, legacies and investments.
  • We spent £960,855 on charitable activities, governance and fundraising.
  • We ended the year with a surplus of £304,338, enabling us to invest in future growth and support more families in the years ahead.

Objectives, achievements and performance

2025 was a year of transformation for Family Holiday Charity. We welcomed a new CEO, a new Chair of Trustees and launched a new strategy that will guide our work through to 2028.

Despite a challenging environment for many families across the UK, we continued to provide opportunities for families facing tough times to experience the life-changing benefits of a holiday.

We also strengthened our position within the travel and leisure sector, building new partnerships and increasing our influence as a leading voice on holiday access and inclusion.

A major milestone was the launch of a new partnership with Airbnb, whose support will enable around 300 additional families to enjoy a holiday in 2026.

Delivery of holidays

In 2025:

  • 300 families and 1,276 individuals enjoyed a holiday or day trip through our support.
  • Families experienced 1,221 days of precious time away together.
  • 40% of families had never been on a family holiday before.
  • 60% had not taken a holiday together for more than four years.

The impact of a holiday was clear:

  • 90% said relationships within their family had improved.
  • 79% felt more confident engaging with others.
  • 79% said they had a more positive outlook on life.
  • 100% said they would like to take holidays, day trips or outings again in the future.

Families also reported significant improvements in wellbeing, with 90% of adults and 93% of children experiencing better mental health after their break.

Partnerships and collaboration

Working with partners continues to be central to our mission.

In 2025 we:

  • Delivered a Christmas family group holiday in partnership with HF Holidays and Pathfinders.
  • Supported 40 families to enjoy a day trip to Fantasy Island and Skegness Pier thanks to donations from the Mellor Group.
  • Secured a landmark partnership with Airbnb that will help fund holidays for around 300 families in 2026.
  • Expanded our engagement across the travel and leisure sector through partnerships, events and industry collaborations.

These partnerships are helping us create more opportunities for families while building momentum for greater inclusion across the tourism industry.

Fundraising

Our supporters continued to make an extraordinary difference throughout 2025.

Highlights included:

  • 28 London Marathon runners raising over £60,000.
  • Supporters taking on fundraising challenges including a trek across Mongolia and a charity cycle ride through the New Forest.
  • Our annual Big Give Christmas Challenge, raising more than £38,000 from supporters, with an additional £20,000 in matched funding.

We remain incredibly grateful to every donor, fundraiser, trust, foundation and corporate partner who helped make our work possible.

What’s next for Family Holiday Charity?

In 2026, we begin delivering our new three-year strategy, Time Away Together.

Our ambitions include:

  • Supporting 5,000 families each year by 2028 through holidays, day trips and new experiences.
  • Growing partnerships across the travel and leisure industry to unlock more donated holidays and opportunities.
  • Developing new holiday formats, including micro-breaks, day trips and educational experiences.
  • Leading national conversations about why holidays matter for family wellbeing.
  • Increasing awareness of holiday inequality and championing change across the sector.

Our vision is simple: every family should have the chance of a holiday. Together with our supporters, partners and funders, we're working towards a future where time away together is accessible to every family who needs it.
